Overland Expo is always a highlight of the year, especially when the new Ultimate Overland Builds are unveiled. Last year’s showstopper, the GMC Canyon AT4X—made a big impression, but this year they’ve raised the bar even higher. For serious overland travelers, the 2025 GMC Sierra 2500 HD AT4X AEV Edition offers the perfect blend of strength, off-road capability, and comfort.  

This presented us with a unique opportunity to do a complete lighting package to compliment this mammoth build with something that we have been cooking up in the light lab; the Explora Series driving lights.

Nine New Driving Lights, One Big Statement - First Look at the Explora Series from Vision X

Tiny Rig Co., based in Southern California, has completed the wiring for nine forward-facing Vision X lights, all seamlessly controlled through a Switch Pros SP9100 controller. The result is a fully integrated, off-grid overland rig built for serious adventure.

Mounted on the roof are the all-new 7" Explora Series lights, each delivering an impressive 8,160 lumens. On the front bumper, four of the slightly smaller 6" Explora lights still pack a punch, throwing 6,000 lumens each downrange for exceptional visibility. All of these total for a night shattering 81,120 lumens of raw Vision X lighting. 

Beyond their eye-blinding output, these lights come loaded with thoughtful features: swappable trim rings in multiple colors let you personalize your setup. The amber DRL takes priority when both white and amber DRL’s are powered and can flash in sync with your turn signals.

Big Truck for Big Adventure - More About the Build

Powered by a 6.6L Duramax diesel and Allison 10-speed transmission, it delivers 470 hp, 975 lb-ft of torque, and can tow over 18,000 lbs—ideal for hauling trailers or campers deep into your favorite backwoods spot. 
AEV added upgrades like 37” BFGoodrich tires, heavy-duty wheels, a snorkel, winch, and custom lighting, along with air suspension and a stainless exhaust to support heavy overland loads and extended trips.
 

The final component of the build was the OEV Back Country slide-in camper, built for year-round adventure with an R8 insulated composite shell. Interior comforts include everything you would have in your kitchen at home, a sink, stainless-steel fridge, cooktop, while the exterior features an Alu-Cab awning, shower cube, and Lavabox campfire. 

Overland Expo Continues See You Out there 

As part of the 2025 Ultimate Overland Build, the GMC Sierra HD AT4X travels to all Overland Expo events: Overland Expo West, May 16-18 in Flagstaff; Overland Expo Pacific Northwest, June 27-29, Redmond, Oregon; Overland Expo Mountain West, August 22-24, Loveland, Colorado; and Overland Expo East, October 3-5 in Arrington, Virginia.
